Pencils Down, It’s the Holiday Season!
It’s December, and there is plenty to celebrate all around! Congratulations to all the educators for completing another different-than-all-the-others semester! And to everyone, of course, Happy Holidays!
There is so much to be thankful for this year, and at the top of the STEM Pre-Academy list is our wonderful and always hard-working participating teachers! It’s said often, but only because it’s so true—without the incredible teachers and administrators around the state, we wouldn’t be able to do what we love to do. A special thanks to our UH partners and industry collaborators who bring innovation, excitement, relevance, and rigor to student learning.
Agents of CTAHR
A big, hydroponically grown mahalo to CTAHR Extension and Outreach Associate, Jensen Uyeda for his virtual meetings and website communication in support of Ilima Intermediate School teacher Randy Shinn’s class.
Randy’s students are using the Engineering Design Process to design incredible hydroponics systems for real community and school customers! Jensen met with the students over Zoom and shared his considerable sustainable agriculture knowledge to advance their project designs and understanding! Way to go, everyone! The Ilima Intermediate School project is one of several supported by the Governor’s Emergency Education Relief fund.
Articulation Meetings
As we do each year, we’ve started scheduling articulation meetings with as many schools as we can. A big shout-out to the Dole Middle School science teachers who kicked off our articulation season a couple of weeks ago with a fantastic meeting over Zoom!
