It’s with great pride and excitement that we introduce STEM Pre-Academy’s new Director, Lauren Kaupp!
Many of you surely know Lauren from her extensive time with the HIDOE, but in case you don’t, read on!
Lauren Kaupp, MS, EdD, started as Director of STEM Pre-Academy in June 2024. Lauren holds a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from the University of Maryland, a Master of Science in Oceanography from the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa, and a Doctorate of Education in Educational Leadership from the University of Southern California. You might remember Lauren from her two years as Title IV-A Grant Administrator for the HIDOE, or perhaps her seven-year stint as the HIDOE State Science Specialist. Before that, Lauren was a Specialist in the UHM College of Education, and spent 5 years as a High School Science teacher with the University Laboratory School.
We’re still the STEM Pre-Academy you know and love, but with new leadership comes the opportunity to reestablish our program’s guide star and begin a new, exhilarating journey forward. We kindly ask all of you to take a moment to answer a few questions for us.
