The Dremel 3D45 3D printer has its own free slicer program called Dremel DigiLab 3D Slicer which can convert any .STL or .OBJ file from 3D design software into a printable file. Link to the Download Page: https://digilab.dremel.com/3D-software
If you are looking for an entry-level 3D design software for yourself or your students, I would recommend TinkerCad or Google SketchUp. These two are the two most popular 3D design software used by our teachers. Both software are free online.
You can use TinkerCad or SketchUp to build the 3D designs and export as .STL or .OBJ files to use with the DigiLab 3D Slicer.
