Teachers are important vectors for helping students think like entrepreneurs. The greatest payback from working with middle school students over the last three years has been witnessing their enhanced confidence in identifying problems or unaddressed opportunities, and how they address these problems with innovative projects or interventions. A gratifying by-product of this work is the self-assurance and entrepreneurial problem solving skills that students carry over to other fields of study, as well as their demonstrable ability to work on teams in other project-based learning areas.

In this workshop, we will share proven approaches to entrepreneurial thinking that teachers can use to facilitate the work of students to create entrepreneurial value for opportunities they have identified.

We will also share examples of several successful school programs, including highlights from a student-run aquaponics greenhouse business that supplies local restaurants with produce grown by the students using new technologies.
