EDP Lesson – Natural Disasters – High Wind

When high winds occur, many buildings that are not structurally sound get destroyed.

Students will be design engineers, having to design and build a structure for the three little pigs. They will then test the strength of the house they created.

Students will design and build a house that is 9 inches or taller, with 4 walls and a roof, that can withstand the wolf (a hand fan) from blowing it down for a minimum of 10 seconds. The materials available are oaktag, index cards, straws, craft sticks, masking tape and scissors.
