Science Fair Photosynthesis Kit (with Vernier Sensors)

The Science Fair Photosynthesis Kit gives students powerful tools to investigate how plants interact with light, carbon dioxide, and oxygen—core processes that drive life on Earth. Built around a Vernier LabQuest interface, this kit includes sensors such as a carbon dioxide gas sensor, oxygen gas sensor, light sensor, temperature probe, and colorimeter, enabling students to collect precise, real-time data during photosynthesis investigations.

Students can design and carry out experiments to explore how variables like light intensity, color of light, temperature, or carbon dioxide concentration affect the rate of photosynthesis. By directly measuring changes in oxygen production and carbon dioxide uptake, students move beyond observation to quantitative evidence, helping them understand photosynthesis as a measurable, dynamic process.

This kit is especially well suited for science fair projects and open-ended investigations. Students can ask their own questions, design controlled experiments, collect and graph data, and refine explanations based on evidence. The LabQuest system displays data in real time, allowing students to immediately identify trends and relationships.
