TRAILS Biomimicry and 3D Printing Workshop Registration
Nature is really good at what it does, and nature can play an important role in shaping and informing engineering and design.
We would like to invite you to our TRAILS Integrated STEM: Biomimicry and 3D Printing Workshop with Todd Kelley from Purdue University.
TRAILS Integrated STEM:
Biomimicry and 3D Printing Workshop
Friday, January 3, 2025
8:30 am to 3:00 pm
Mānoa Innovation Center
In this full-day session, you’ll engage in engineering design and integrate science, technology, and mathematics.
-
Use mathematical prediction as a driving factor in engineering design
-
Explore the use of computer-aided design (CAD) to create files for 3D printing for science and engineering applications
-
Learn about the history and design of traditional Hawaiian fishing lures from cultural practitioner, wood carver, and Windward Community College Hawaiian Studies lecturer, Jordan Souza
-
Design and create your own Hawaiian fish hook as an example of CAD and 3D printing technology
-
See how your students can use CAD and 3D printing to design polymer-based fishing lures
-
Find out more about the TRAILS project, including high-quality integrated STEM and biomimicry lesson plans
This opportunity is open to teachers of grades 5–12. Prior experience using CAD would be helpful, but is not necessary.
